Air-Bags
Air-bags is an ethical project
developed by Ikonostas in 2005.
The wish of the designer is to create
fashion items recycling materials that are disused and that generate
pollution.
Also rubber is a good substitute for
people who don't use wear leather.
The inner tubes lived on the street,
becoming part of each car.. and car is the vehicle transporting
people, becoming part of our life.
Is rilevant to this matter the choice
of the making. Each piece of Ikonostas Air Bags collection is shaped
around it's own use, the shape of the inner tube results from the
pression of the inner gas. The material is not sewn by machine but
handcrafted with studs.
Air Bags is a collection of one of a
kind items.

IKONOSTAS
Ikonostas,
from the greek word Ikonostasi (con
stand), is the name Daniela Corcio has chosen for her
collections, which are based on research of past and modern icons.
Along
with her work as a product designer for the first label of the Grand
Dame of British fashion Vivienne Westwood, her muse and icon, Daniela
has continued her creative path collaborating with conceptual
performance artists and has worked as a costume designer and stylist.
Air
Bags was created in 2005 as an ethical project where inner tubes are
recycled to make bags of various sizes, for men and for women,
evening and day. Their peculiarity is the drape, which is meant
to take the same shape the air has given to this material with the
use . So that each piece is special and unique, with its own history
and its own soul.
Founded
in 2005, Ikonostas is a fashion brand exploring multiple areas in
fashion. There are far too many interests to be able to limit the
designer to create certain clothes and accessories over another.
Ikonostas
is mainly research. The brand is based on drapery, occasionally
unusual materials that are molded around the body, and corsets.
In 2008, she attracted the attention of the magazine Linea Intima,
and was selected one of the first design brands chosen among
Europe's most innovative lingerie.
In
2010, she was recognized as one of the best eight emerging lingerie
designers in the world.
The
Ikonostas lingerie pieces are all tailored because, as the designer
is Italian, she wishes to pay homage to Made in Italy, a tradition
that is lost over the years. At this intent she combines provocation,
irony and eroticism.
Leit
Motiv for Ikonostas creations is research in several areas, including
music. So Daniela could not refuse
her last call. The artist Ivan
Pavlov, aka Coh, asked her to create some clothes for the music
piece presentation in Trafalgar Square at the Sound Portal event,
designed by the company Arup. During the month of September 2012 she
created Otto Ottagoni, a unisex line of clothing: all the pieces –
eight styles for each collection – were based on the geometry of
octagons. Again, another icon. Thus, Ikonostas transformed the music
of Soisong in a visual project.
